The Interview: Dua Talks To Ocean Vuong About On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous

Dua Lipa interviews Ocean Vuong, author of her Monthly Read for November, On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, for the Service95 Book Club. In this poetic, semi-autobiographical story told through a letter to his illiterate mother, a young Vietnamese man grapples with his personal history and that of his country’s past. Dua and Ocean discuss the ways the women in his family have fought for autonomy amid oppression, the multi-generational trauma of the Vietnam War, the epidemic of male suicide and his response to his book being banned in certain states.
