Welcome to a very special issue this week! I’m so excited to pass the baton to a guest editor: the incredible academic, writer and broadcaster, Emma Dabiri. Many of you may know her as the author of Don’t Touch My Hair and What White People Can Do Next – in which she expertly weaves academic research with her personal experiences as an Irish-Nigerian woman. In this issue, Emma, and our guest writers Nana Oforiatta Ayim, Sophie White and Janice Li, explore beauty from their unique perspectives – and how we can rebel against Western culture’s restrictive ideals. It’s a fascinating read and I hope you enjoy it.
