I am so excited that my Monthly Read for January is The Guest by Emma Cline. Disconcertingly glamorous and slightly seedy, it’s a book that has garnered a lot of attention for raising questions about class, privilege and survival – not to mention the ending! – and I found it such a page-turner. Taking place over one week in Long Island during summer party season, we never really find out anything about the main character, Alex – is she an escort, a thief, or a young woman just trying to survive? I can’t wait to hear what you think!
