Drug policy reformer Amanda Feilding, sometimes known as the First Lady of LSD, is this week’s guest on Dua Lipa: At Your Service. Don’t miss her fascinating episode out tomorrow, Friday 4 August. While the possession of many psychedelics is a criminal offence in the UK and other parts of the world and there are other risks involved in their use, for those who are still interested in trying them, Feilding has shared her five key pieces of advice for doing so safely.
- Be very aware of setting – choose a protected space where you can avoid any unexpected disturbance, and ensure you feel safe and are with someone you trust to support you through the experience.
- Do as much research about the compound that you are consuming as possible, including how the experts advise preparation and integration.
- Take a time-release vitamin C tablet to help your body produce adrenaline, and have some fruit nearby to help keep your glucose level regulated.
- Choose pure compounds (use a test kit to measure the concentration of substances such as LSD, psilocybin or MDMA) and start with a small amount.
- Avoid mixing compounds, for example with alcohol or cannabis.
